Ready to take the lead in a fast-moving cattle supply operation?
This is an opportunity to take charge of a major part of a commercial cattle supply chain, managing significant volumes of calves while ensuring high standards of animal welfare, quality and operational performance.
As Calf Collection Centre Manager, you’ll take responsibility for a calf collection unit in North West England, acting as the vital link between calf breeders, hauliers and calf rearers.
On weekly collection days, you’ll be at the centre of the operation managing calf numbers, equipment, haulage and logistics, while ensuring every animal meets the required specifications. The rest of the week, you’ll be building relationships with farmers, organising supply and making sure everything is in place for the next collection.
Responsibilities:
· Source calves from existing supplier farms and bring new local farmers into the scheme.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality and supply.
· Book in calves, manage transport documentation and ensure regulatory compliance.
· Verify calf weights and specifications, addressing any non-compliance with suppliers or hauliers.
· Organise hauliers and coordinate the regional supply chain to ensure smooth, timely collections and deliveries.
· Maintain and monitor calf specifications in line with internal standards and welfare requirements.
· Input and manage livestock records using AgriWebb.
You will have:
· Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build strong relationships across the supply chain.
· A strong understanding of the UK beef sector and wider cattle supply chain.
· Solid practical experience in cattle management, livestock husbandry and animal welfare.
· A full UK driving licence.
· The flexibility to travel across North West England as required.
· Previous livestock procurement or buying experience would be advantageous.
· An NVQ Level 2 qualification, or equivalent, in a relevant agricultural or livestock-related discipline.
