Can you take ownership of a national calf collection operation spanning multiple sites?
Our client is looking for a Calf Collection Team Manager to take charge of a busy national operation, leading the team responsible for calf collection centres and ensuring everything keeps moving in the right direction.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll support Collection Centre Managers, oversee the efficient movement of calves from dairy farms through to onward transport, and ensure the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained.
Away from the centres, you’ll keep the wider operation running smoothly coordinating bookings, visiting suppliers, working with hauliers and preparing the team for the week ahead. You’ll also oversee farm software systems, so confidence with technology and data will be important.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead weekly operations across calf collection centres and drive high standards across the national team.
· Coordinate calf bookings against forecast and work closely with transport managers and hauliers.
· Maintain and improve calf specifications, ensuring standards are clear, consistent and upheld.
· Work with genetic partners to support improved operational performance.
· Work closely with farm assurance teams to maintain compliance and uphold the highest standards of animal welfare.
· Ensure sufficient staffing levels across the collection centres, including effective planning for holiday cover, sickness and other absences.
· Travel regularly across the country to support the needs of the operation.
About You:
· Experience in dairy or livestock farming, with a strong understanding of animal welfare and livestock logistics.
· Proven experience managing field-based teams and building strong relationships with suppliers.
· Organised, commercially minded and able to communicate clearly and effectively in a fast-moving environment.
· Comfortable using farm management software and confident using data to support decision-making.
· Bovine genetics experience would be desirable, particularly experience leading a service team.
· TB management experience would also be advantageous.
This is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking business and take genuine ownership of a key national livestock operation — leading people, improving performance and ensuring the highest standards are delivered across the country.
Remuneration:
