Business Development Manager - Youngstock Nutrition

Not every sales role gives you people who already want to buy.

Farmers are already showing interest in a new approach to calf nutrition. They're asking questions at shows, making enquiries and looking for better ways to improve youngstock performance. This role is about challenging conventional thinking and convert genuine curiosity into commercial success.

An established UK manufacturer with over 50 years of experience in animal nutrition has developed a new product range, with a valid claim to being the first on the UK market.

The result is a differentiated youngstock nutrition product with a compelling economic case for dairy and beef farmers.

Working closely with the Managing Director, you'll take ownership of following up enquiries, visiting farms, understanding individual businesses and helping farmers see the commercial benefits of a different approach to calf rearing. 

This role would suit someone with a strong understanding of ruminant livestock who is ready to take the next step commercially and wants the chance to help build something rather than simply maintain an existing customer base.

What the role involves:

Following up leads generated through shows, enquiries and existing industry contacts.

Visiting dairy and beef farms to understand customer needs and present the economic benefits of the product.

Converting enquiries into orders while maintaining a disciplined approach to follow-up.

Developing your own opportunities through networking, farm visits and industry events.

Building relationships that generate repeat business and referrals.

Providing market feedback to support future product and business development.

What We're Looking For:

You've probably spent time around livestock and understand the realities of modern dairy and beef farming. Perhaps you're already in agricultural sales, working for a feed business, merchant, animal health company or agricultural supplier. Equally, you might come from a farming background and have discovered that you enjoy the commercial side of the industry.

Key requirements include:

Agricultural experience, a practical farming background and working knowledge of ruminant nutrition would all be advantageous.

Some sales or customer-facing experience.

Full UK driving licence.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Ability to understand technical information and explain it in simple commercial terms.

What's On Offer?

£30,000 - £45,000 basic salary entirely dependent on experience.

Car allowance.

Performance-based bonus linked to converted sales.
