Business Unit Manager - Youngstock Nutrition
Reference: JN239
UK - National
You can only be the first into a market once. This is a chance to tell a better story in the youngstock nutrition space supported by a genuinely innovative product.
This role offers the opportunity to take a clearly differentiated calf nutrition product to market, influence farmer thinking and build a business area from the ground up.
An established UK manufacturer with decades of experience supplying specialist products to the livestock sector has invested significantly in developing a new product range.
The science is in place, the economics are compelling, and the product is ready for wider adoption. What comes next depends on finding the right person to lead the commercial journey.
This is not a role built around maintaining an existing customer book. Instead, you'll be creating your own pipeline and establishing a presence in a market where there is considerable opportunity for change.
The position combines business development, account growth and strategic input. As the market develops, your insight will help shape product positioning, messaging and future commercial direction. There is also scope for the role to evolve as the business unit grows.
Key responsibilities include:
Taking ownership of growing a specialist youngstock nutrition offering, identifying where the greatest opportunities exist.
Developing and building a business unit as if it were your own.
Targeting progressive dairy and beef producers focused on performance and outcomes.
Presenting a strong economic case for product adoption and challenging established on-farm thinking where appropriate.
Growing and retaining customer relationships through demonstrable results.
Handling inbound enquiries from across the UK whilst proactively developing the UK market.
Contributing commercially through market insight, customer feedback and identifying future product opportunities.
What we're looking for:
Proven commercial impact having previously built new markets in the ruminant industry.
Ability to deliver a technical consultative sales approach, although a PhD is not required.
Deep practical and commercial understanding of dairy and/or beef farming.
Full UK driving licence.
Strong prospecting and relationship-building capability, without relying on inherited customer base.
Ability to sell premium products based on return on investment and a working knowledge of ruminant nutrition.
What's on offer?
Competitive salary to reflect your skills/experience + car allowance + performance bonus.
Opportunities for career progression.
