Mill Manager

Position Overview

Mill managers often have many different responsibilities and so they must be able to multitask effectively. In general, mill managers oversee the mills operations, such as planning, production, and delivery. They ensure there is suitable performance management techniques in place and keep all workers accountable for their actions. They need to make sure their team meets certain production targets and takes preventative measures to maintain equipment successfully. Mill managers often need to train staff members, and encourage appropriate health and safety management. They also manage the budget for production, taking into consideration maintenance and transport costs. They must have a business mind to develop key strategies for the success of the company.

Mill Manager Duties

Required Education and Training

Mill managers should have a bachelor's degree in engineering or agriculture; other related fields may be considered. If no prior management experience, candidates should be able to display their leadership abilities in other ways as this is critical to the success of the position.
