The Co-operative Food
With committed long-term relationships with over 400 farmers, the Co-operative Food is a large and prominent supporter of the UK farming industry. At the front of responsible retailing issues for over 15 years, the Co-operative Food conducted the largest consumer poll in 2008 on Food Ethics, and with the backing of 100,000 members, the Co-operative Food launched a Food Ethical Policy. One of the Co-operative Food's newest initiatives is to provide transparency in the agriculture supply chain, with a lot of industry interest focusing on fairness, animal welfare and the environment.
The Co-operative also supports approximately 2000 farmers across the UK who help provide pork, beef, chicken, lamb, and milk through transparent supply chains, and has worked to improve the quality of lives of approximately 53 million animals, since the launch of the farming group in 2013.
