Delivering a comprehensive education, as well as providing Scotland's industries with business support, Scotland's Rural College (SRUC) provides education, research, and services to Scotland and the UK. SRUC focuses on the land-based industries, and has developed to become leaders in sector research, and land-based consultancy and education. Due to this, SRUC has become a valuable resource and centre for not just students, but also communities, policy-makers and businesses. SRUC performs a variety of research focusing on environmental, land-based, and rural activity which aims to solve problems regarding the productivity and health of crops and animal welfare, while increasing farm output. SRUC has research groups for animal & veterinary services, crop & soil systems, future farming systems, and land economy, environment & society. With regards to education, SRUC builds upon more than 100 years of expertise to offer courses across a number of levels, from undergraduate to doctoral. SRUC also provides a number of consultancy services, including food & drink, estate management services, renewable energy, veterinary, forestry management, VAS programme, rural business, and farm diversification. Finally, Scotland's Rural College is also home to the Rural Policy Centre, established in 2007, which develops and implements current and future policies for rural communities and businesses.
