Farm Manager - Livestock - Mid-Wales/Herefordshire - L164

A rare opening has arisen for an experienced, dynamic Farm Manager who is seeking their next challenge. The family owned Farm is a mixed enterprise comprising of low input grazing pasture and woodland situated on the stunning Welsh/ Herefordshire border. This is a real opportunity for the right candidate to become part of a well maintained, innovative business as if it is their own, a lifestyle opportunity.

The Farm is set in 240 hectares producing high-quality livestock. The enterprise is made up of 200ha of pasture land grazing sheep and beef, with 40ha of woodland. The successful candidate will be responsible for all animal related tasks and welfare, overseeing all environmental schemes and the day to day running of the farm. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels of contact from within and without the business is essential, including the local community and third-party professionals.

Reporting to the Managing Partner, the candidate will be reliable, trustworthy, conscientious and self-motivated. The importance of an eye for detail and visual impact of the farm business is also important.

Requirements:

  • Practical UK livestock farm management experience.
  • The ability to engage with local community and wider industry to promote the business as a whole.
  • The ability to keep farm records e.g. Farm Assurance inspections and animal movements up to date and to provide reports to the owner.
  • Sound knowledge of grazing techniques and technical pasture improvements.
  • Capable of working to budgets and progressing the farm business using innovative methods.
  • Ideally some woodland experience.
  • Capable of maintaining the farm to high standards - livestock and farm maintenance.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Well organised, proactive and flexible.
  • Computer literate.
