De Lacy Executive's client is a leading supplier of pre-fabricated buildings to the farming and rural community. The company specialises in servicing the farming sector throughout the south of England, East Anglia and the Midlands, but it also supplies and erects buildings to the commercial and industrial sectors within these areas.

We seek an experienced Estimator to join their team in Wiltshire. Reporting to the Sales Director you will assist the Sales Team by pricing the projects they bring into the company. It will be your role to put together a comprehensive cost estimate sheet that will cover all aspects of the project and ensure sufficient OH&P is allowed for in each project. You will be sending out packages for various elements in order to obtain competitive quotes. On occasion you will be required to go to site to fully understand the requirements of the client prior to submitting a price. You will work closely with the Operations team in obtaining feedback from completed projects.

The Role:

  • Respond to information from sales enquiries using appropriate methods.
  • Estimate all contracts as and where directed using margins required - especially managing personal time and productivity.
  • Read and understand technical tender drawings and information.
  • Receive and respond to enquiries from existing and new clients.
  • Produce accurate quotations/take offs (steelwork materials, labour, equipment etc).
  • Liaise with clients and identify their requirements.
  • Review and present tenders accurately and professionally to clients.
  • Preparation of written tenders and quotations.
  • Following up submitted quotations to maintain a continuous and profitable workload.
  • Use and improve IT systems to enable accurate and effective estimating.
  • Monitor and report on cost/supplier activities, and provide relevant reports and information.
  • Attend and present at external customer meetings / trade fairs, and internal meetings

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience within the Construction industry is essential and involvement within the Structural Steelwork industry would be highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of steelwork fabrication / erecting techniques with the ability to fully read and interpret working drawings (further training can be provided to those with limited knowledge of structural steelwork).
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly numerate
  • Good IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and able to communicate confidently with Engineers, clients, colleagues and suppliers.
  • Ability to work off own initiative and as well as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence


A competitive remuneration package will be on offer dependent on experience
