Are you:

 Experienced in practical dairy farming

 interested in guiding dairy farmers through change

 confident, enthusiastic and outgoing

 self motivating

 computer literate

 able to work successfully from home but be part of a national team?

If you can answer ‘yes’ to these questions you may be the person we are seeking.

The Milk Development Council (Soon to be DairyCo) is seeking two enthusiastic and professional Trainee Extension Officers who can:

 ‘make things happen’

 build business relationships

 effectively communicate information

 demonstrate business acumen

The role of Extension Officer involves working with Dairy Farmers through the medium of discussion groups to help them to move their businesses forward profitably and to tackle the issues they identify which are inhibiting their progress. These will range from technical issues to financial ones.

DairyCo makes available a large quantity of relevant R & D material in a practical format to aid the process and encourages participation in bench marking and the subsequent opportunities for evaluation.

The role also involves organising visits to relevant sites to help the discussion groups consider the development of their dairy farms.

A trainee will be under the guidance of a nominated Extension Officer and will assist in their work and gradually given more opportunity and responsibility as the training proceeds. A trainee should expect to be located in different areas of the UK from time to time and to undertake a wide range of duties as part of the training programme.

REMUNERATION:

DairyCo offers a competitive remuneration package. Training will be provided and ongoing mentoring and support.

LOCATION:

The successful candidate will need to be flexible in location and be able to move around the country in the training years.
